  2. Okay,

My friend Ben and I are planning a trip to china for about 11 days. we are staying in beijing and are taking a train to shanghai but want to visit somewhere else as well. here are my questions

    1. Should we visit Suzhou or Hangzhou or BOTH?? which in your opinion is better?

    2. i thought about visiting “yellow mountain.” could we do this in a day trip from shanghai or should we stay in a town close by?

    3. Okay, if you had a choice between 1 or 2 of the destinations above, which would they be?

    THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!!

  3. I’ll be visiting Asia for a couple weeks for work. The work ends on August 22 in Shanghai. I’d like to take a train to Beijing to see the Olympics and return to the US the following day. How would you schedule this trip? How hard is it to get a hotel stay for 1 day? How hard is it to schedule the train back to Shanghai to catch my flight back to the US?

  4. Hi, Greg:

I saw your question and give you some advise here.

Maybe you could visit both of them if you have enough time. They are both worthy of going. Suzhou is more traditional, you can see many Chinese style buildings, cloth–especially the silk and so on. And Hangzhou is more beautiful, there is a lake called west lake there, it is so nice that you can spend one day walking and having fun there.

If you want to go to the yellow mountain from shanghai I’m afraid it should take you two days. It is betther to take bus, it will spend you 6 hours by bus and the time by train is much honger. And there are many buses at the bus station near shanghai rail way station. You can take line 1, line 3, line 4and get off at shanghai rail way station, then walk five to ten minutes to the bus station. The ticked is about RMB100(about $14.00). And living there one night.

There are many articals about the place you want to go in the blog, and you can take a look, it is much helpful for your trip here.

Welcom to China, and have a good trip.

  5. Oh, sorry, I made a big mistake here, it was for Paul!!!
