Top Commenter of the Month (2006H1)

I have “Top Commenter of the Month” award on this blog in early days of this blog. At that time, the blog is small, with not many people coming in. I was so happy that there are always some good friends around me (most of them I didn’t meet them in person), and join discussion, share thoughts by posting comments. I love that award program a lot, since I always believe this blog is built together with my reader community. If you read the number of content distribution, you will also agree with me:

Jian Shuo Wang posted 1,350 entries in the last 1,418 days.

Readers of this Blog posted 16,288 comments during the same time.

That is 12 comments per entry!

The last award was issued by in Oct 2004 – long time ago.

  1. This is quite a cool feature!

Jian Shuo, do you mind me adding a similar feature to my own (not-so-good-commented) blog as well? (for the nosey people amongst us, it can be found at http://www.svache.com/ (hint, hint, comments! haha, j/k)).

I’m currently still building this blog, giving it some more features in the backend and such and I think this feature will be a nice one to add as well.

Also, I am thinking about making the blog script public available after I’ve converted it from ASP to PHP (so I have two versions available) so people can download the script and that they can enjoy having a blog as well. Any thoughts on this?

ps. I just wanted to click on my own name to check my own comments out and found that the link was http://user.wangjianshuo.com/Jie …I’m not sure if this is an error in the blog script or something but maybe it would be a good idea to let the scrip add ‘%20’ instead of a space so the links will always be right, also when they have some whitespaces in them?

  2. JS, your most faithful commenter should be carsten, he has been posting useful and constructive comments with good deeds consistently since the day you established this blog. For me, I am only an opinionated bigot and I don’t even live in Shanghai.

  3. There seems to be more than one Ali, I posted the 1st few comments in June, then someone posted as ALI (all caps); possibly ALI posted more comments as Ali, or there’s a 2nd Ali.

  4. Thanks, stephen, but I’m only expressing my feelings, and give others some hints to get aorund in this true mess of a city.

I appreciate you for always writing such good and useful comments here in JSW’s blog.

I wish there would be even more USEFUL comments,

instead of the bullshit we see sometimes.

    OK, enough, enough !

(My back can’t take more slapping now….)

  5. Jianshuo, what is a “Top Commenter” ?

Is it a good thing ?

Some day even bellevue could get to the top, simply because you only

count the numbers of entries of comments, so beware !

Well, who want’s him on the top, exept for himself ? :-) :-)

  6. Hehe. It is simply by counting numbers. :-) I know it is not completely, but I recently found to put numbers together can tell some interesting stories. It is definitely some thing good :-) Congrats, carsten, and I want to take the opporunity to thank everyone’s wonderful comments on the blog.

  7. thanx so much
