Shanghai Scenery Around Xujiahui

This series of picture was taken on top of the Metro Tower. It shows the buildings and parks in the Xujiahui Area – one of the central business districts in Shanghai.

Below: The Xujiahui Residential Area. In my previous article of Hand-Made Map of Shanghai, I said “Xujiahui is the most romantic area of the city.” Someone asked why? You cna se the reason in this picture – it is the peace place hidden in the tree. Despite of unstoppable construction any where in the city, the heart of the Xujiahui are still occupied by some nice houses left from the early years of the last century.

In the picture above, you can see the Hilton Shanghai building and the Shanghai Library (the white building on the left), Regal Hotel (the tall building on the right with green glasses) and Hengshang Hotel (the lower building on the front)

This is the scene looking eastward from Xujiahui. You can see the Oriental Pearl TV Station on the left and the Jinmao Tower on the right. They are the new land marks for the city of Shanghai

Below: The arch in the scene is the newly constructed Lupu Bridge, crossing the Huangpu River.

  2. Hi Jian Shou,

I was so amazed by your skill and your equipped information on Shanghai.Especially for me as a first timer going to Shanghai, those information and pictures were a good help.

I’ll be going to Shanghai on this mid-sept with my husband.

I’m still planning which hotel to stay.

Friend of mine told me to get any hotel nearby Nanjing road.

As it’s a busy shopping spot.

Jian Shou, which area is your best recommendation.

Pls email me and thank you for your co-operation.

  3. Hello Jian Shou,

I am planning to visit Shanghai in october and I found your pictures really good. They gave me a good idea of what to expect… I can’t wait to get there! Also your website is pretty kool. I specially enjoyed your story regarding your passport. (Don’t worry the administration is pretty useless in many countries!).

Regards from a French man :-)

  4. I would like to know what is the Salary Range in Shanghai for the local people? especially for Middle Management and with 3-4 years working experience.

What is the income tax charges for foreigner in Shanghai?

Look forward for your reply.Thank You..

  5. Shanghai is a city full of tall buildings. It’s a very sad sight. If u look at other metropolitian cities, you will see that most of them have a flat landscape (Execpt maybe New York, but ny has all its buldings cluster into one area.)

  6. Hi

  7. Tall bulding is not everything. Seeing these pictures, i just think we are living in many steel-made cages. I like countryside scene very much.especially green mountains, trees, grasses, flowing rivulet, and so on.
