I totally agree with Rose Sethman and her statement.

If you don't have to travel and you can put off travel plans to another country, then don't travel. This is really a time where it is better to stay near the home front for now till SARS is more controlable by Doctors all over the world - and finding out where it where it stems from (cultivates out of) as well.

I understand that business people must travel, clients are highly important in the business world to continue business growth, but even then if a business trip can be set up for a later date it should be.

Others traveling back and forth to different countries are just helping with the wide spread of SARS :(

Especially if those people have it and may not know they have it or when they are screen, they are not stating the truth about symptons they may be experiencing because they really want to get to where they are flying to.

I hope the Canadian Gov't continues to work with the public and other Countries to help stop this wide spread of SARS, and a cure is found swiftly. To many people have already had their lives disrupted due to it as well as some have lost their lives from it :( .... Sad...very sad !

BEWARE OF SARS!!!

Well, let me start off by saying "Haha!" and then going about my business. You see, we reap what we sow... Every revolution carries the seeds of its own destruction. As Humans, we have sown our own destruction in our ambitious plight towards total world overpopulation. So, it is safe to say, that our great Mother Earth intends to weed some of us out, in order to keep balance. Its like this: Everything has a predator, or a weakness. Lions may not have predators, but they have Hyenas to keep their numbers in check... as well as a mating schedule of once a year. Lion cubs die at birth, or in infancy due to causes which are theirs alone. They are at the top of their food chain. We are at our own top, with one weakness: we can only birth one baby per human woman per year. but thats not enough to keep us in check... So we need Viruses and Toxins to infect us, and keep us in check. Our own hyenas are at our heels, ladies and gentlmen, nipping and clawing until they find us with our feet in the air. Our proverbial Hyenas will bring our own houses down around our ears. Wear a mask or not, but when death comes knocking at the door, the only thing you can do is answer the door with a smile.

It is very true what you said about balance, Things happen in the world because of something, a chain reaction ("there is reaction for every action"). I live in Canada, and I travel alot to the U.S., I came to the internet for answers and updates regarding this horrible plague that is developing, not to hear a dark explaination of the food chain and why we are going to die. We are here for a solutions, not to be the devils'advocate, but there is truth to what you say, Life has its mysterious ways of weeding us out. How do we know this is not a terrorist plot from the East, a biological disease to slow us down, and kill all. All I want to know is why didnt they quarantine this epidemic from the beginning, since late last year in China, and numbers been revealed later after this is out of control, WHO is on the case, but what good is that if we dont know what this virus is, and how fast it can spread, is it an airborne virus, blood, something you eat, drink, do?

Rose is kind of serious about a solution, but a little too extreme, the world revolves around money, no matter how deadly this virus is, you cant stop the government or the corporate dollar.

My advice is stay home watch the news, keep updated through internet, or whatever, and try not to come in contact with too much people until there is word about how serious this virus is, know the symptoms, and pray to your god, that we all will be safe and that there will be a cure, or some way of preventing this deathly disease from entering our lives

If you think "SARS" is just a joke your wrong, because this is a big deal and if we dont find a way to stop this real soon it could spread clear across the United States, please understand the dangers of this diease.

Indeed... I was in a rather starky mood when I posted that. I'm not at all opposed to staying away from people.. not just for diseases like SARS, but for any number of other things as well. And as for the corporate dollar, Well, all I can say is that there is no money in the cure. It's simple treatment of symptoms, and help you live longer so you'll be giving them more money for further symptom treatment. It's a sad state of affairs I'm afraid, but true. I agree that someone should have said something about it sooner, but we can only look for better luck in the future, because we can't sit around and point fingers, questioning the past, and who did or didnt do what. It's a waste of time. Also, speaking of wasting time, it is also safe to say that watching too much TV, Via News is bad for you. Half of it is biased, and the other half is just bad news, and most of the time it is all one in the same. Choose carefully who you want to listen to, and choose even more carefully who or what you think is true. I'm not at all downplaying SARS.. I'll admit that its damn scary, but we must keep our feet on the ground, and our heads held high. Cure or not, there wont be anything left of us if we panic and go into mass hysteria over a virus... if theres any virus that needed that, it would have been AIDS, but we haven't ran for the hills just yet, in any case. Hopefully we'll get out of this alive. AIDS takes 8-12 years for it to start its deadly process, waiting in your body like a shadowlurker. SARS is a different kind of animal altogether, and airborne on top of it all. Pray, Meditate, do what you will, just don't panic.... Yet.

I don't think you need to worry about it. Firstly, the outbreak of a virus does not mean everyone in the areas got the desease. The people who gets SARS will not be able to continue to work on the stuff you are using. Secondly, SARS virus remains infectious on the surface of objects for only 3 hours. After that, it is safe - you may get your goods at least 30 hours later. I have to say SARS is bad, but don't think it too bad. China is still the nice country to travel and to buy goods from, (and to go to check websites like this :-) )

I agree. it is certainly something to worry about, but no panic is necessary. Products are not to be worried about, just people, and only moderately at that. It is safe to say that this, too, may pass. It is also safe to say that it may not, but given that only 3% [as of now] of the recievers of said syndrome are fatalities, it is not yet a serious issue, which is [partially] why I believe the news has not given it much concern. They should have more on the news now then what they have, but... at least we know about it. I talk to a lot of different people on the wbe though, and some have never heard of it. It should at least be known to all, but that, as it stands, is a little too much to hope for, what with the Iraq war, and whatnot. Still, I believe that we will prevail, given the percentage rates of fatalities versus the actual number of people who have gotten it. Doctors and Scientists the like are dilligently working on a cure, or even a vaccine, but it is still early in the proverbial game, and we don't know yet what might happen.

what are the symptons of sars. no one seem to put it down except a fever, shortness of breath.

100% of people with SARS have this 38 degree celcius fever that would not go away. They will not respond to the usual drugs of antibiotics or anything.

Here are other symptoms that show up:

Shortness of breath

Aching bones

Aching muscles

Chills

Cough

Runny nose

all the flu like symptoms come on later, after the fever.

Of course when it gets bad, the patient cannot breathe on their own and will die unless put on a ventilator. Then if they survive, their lungs will be like an 80 year old's.

I think SARS is a very serious disease and need serious attention. But we all have forgotten who create us. All of us are just hoping on the government, physician, scientist etc. for solution. What of our creator God. He can do and undo so why don't wee turn to him and hope for a solution.

SARS is an air-borne disease and it is caused by a virus called CORONAVIRUS.

Why don't we turn to God and pray to him to be our deliverer.

I just pray that those affected will be healed and, it will not spread to any other country. (Amen)

SARS is a very serious situation which we need to control. We should stop letting chinese people onto planes and letting them fly to other countries. Chinese people should be tortured for the bad things they bring to this world. Lets discriminate Chinese people and lets hope that this SARS situation shall stop and that doctors soon enough shall have a cure for this certain disease.

Thank God they controlled WestNile for now (with all the chemicals), we just have too much to deal with in regards to SARs and Mad Cow now!

I try to live my life normally, but I give a bit more effort in being closer to family, friends, and just others in general. So, if they or I win one of these current lotteries (SARs/WestNile/Mad Cow) I am sure, we’d want to be in a happy and peaceful state of mind in body and spirit.

I do still believe that it's not the end of the world yet; but, just a new way of life in the new millennium for our future generations.

some one should do some thing about it i mean why should anyone else have to have the disease when it can be prevented by some one and all good and well if you are willing to risk it and take a chance on getting sars then go ahead but i think that people in england and other countries should be warned and advised not to go to china and hong kong so they know what the risks of going are and if they do go well all the best to them.

I am 20 years old and of lately I have just become sereiously ill. I remembered that i had eaten a hamburgar before getting ill. i was wandering what is the first symptoms of mad cow disease. i went to the doctor and they told me that i had either MONO or Strepth throat, but when tested they both came back negative. i live in Bozeman Montana and they don't have the resources to arrange for anymore testing. they pretty much said i had a viral infection, and sent me home with some anti-biotics, but that was after the doctor said to me "we don't know what you have".
