High-Tech Companies in a Day

It is already late after I am back from good friends home. I hope I can post more about the trip when I am back to Shanghai. Tomorrow I am flying back to Shanghai via UA857 at 14:18. Obviously, I don’t have time to put more information on blog tomorrow.

To be short, I visited about 10 high-tech companies in silicon valley one by one in half day, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM. San Jose, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, and Mountview, all these places offered many great things, but nothing is comparable to the high density of famous high-tech companies, espeically the microchip and Internet companies. So this morning, I wrote down a list of about 31 companies in Silicon Valley, and finally, I made a route to visit 10 of them. Here are the company name list and pictures.

Company List

  • BEA
  • eBay
  • Cisco
  • Mator
  • Creative
  • Yahoo!
  • Intel
  • AMD
  • Palm
  • Apple

This may not easy to see. The logo is Yahoo!

I am very happy that I know the locations of the companies, and next time, I can find every single one of them without a map. Meanwhile, I learnt the geography of the Silicon Valley much better, and how the highways connects with other and remembered some key local roads.

Will tell more about the story soon.

  1. Why eBay is hiTech company? Intel, AMD yes. Maxtor is now owned by Seagate Technology. Have you thought about the companies that make the machines that Intel, AMD and Seagate use to make micro-chips and hard drives? You should come back in July to San Francisco to visit Semicom West to see some real hiTech.

Now I understand why the scientists in the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory are paid less than the programmers in eBay, Google and Yahoo, because eBay, Google and Yahoo are HI-TECH.

  2. May be one day, I’ll work in some places of them. :)

It’s Maxtor, not Mator in the Company List, isn’t it?

  3. i read your blog in order to learn english ~~hehe thank you and i admire you so much!

  4. Now I don’t mean to be critical…just stating my observations…only someone who really enjoys high tech, or who are really admires the profound changes that silicon valley companies has brought to this world, would be driving around and spend half of a day on a trip to another country half a world away to take pictures of high tech companies buildings. They are just buildings!

By the way I work for one of these companies I wouldn’t even waste a picture on where I work…

Where are your pictures of the golden gate bridge or Yosemite National Park? I’d like to see those next time.

    Keep up the good work.

  5. Half of the companies on this list will cease to exist in the near future, when the full force of the Bear wake up from hibernation. It’s the beginning of the end, disagree? bring up a recent chart of Nasdaq.
