If you and your friend arrive in Pudong Airport on different flight and you want to meet him/her/them, but you don’t know where is the best place to wait because you may not be able to use your mobile phone to communicate, this article is right for you.
Unlike other airport, Pudong Airport is designed that all the international flight passengers pass the same custom inspection gate, then down to the luggage claim area. Then, guess what, they will all come out of the luggage claim area through the same gate.
So the gate is the best place to pick up another passenger. Check this page:

The two persons were waiting for their friends coming out of the gate. Below is the picture looking into the gate when it is open – you can directly see the luggage claim area.
Wait there and you will not miss anybody coming from outside China (including Hong Kong, and Macau) to Shanghai via PVG. Please note that the domestic and international sections of the airport are seperate and there is a domestic arrival gate for domestic arrival like this too.
There will typically be a lot of people waiting there and the gate will be crowded. Lots of them will holding a large name plate for the friend they will pickup.
If you don’t feel safe enough, you can agree to meet at certain gate. For example, gate 18 is a good choice since it is just at the opposite side of the arrival gate.

One more question:I have found that there is an hourly hotel at PVG:

but I am not clear when it closes – it says when the last flight leaves but how can I find that out? Even though it closes, can I even stay the night (2200h to 0700h)? It looks like I can stay the night there because there is a rate for the night but I am very confused by the information. Can you offer information on this, please?

If arrive in International and go to International area for luggage storage, how long can I store my luggage? I am arriving Nov 5 and want to leave 1 piece of luggage while traveling until Nov 20. Is that possible? Do you know the cost?

Can I store my luggage for the day?
I have a 12 hour layover in Pudong on an international flight between Bangkok and US. I would like to take advantage of the hotel with hourly rates for beds during this layover. Do I have to leave the international terminal and go through security again to take advantage of this service? How do I reserve a bed or is it on a walk-in basis? Please let me know. Thank you.

For those who are looking for the hourly hotel in Pudong Airport, I read in another website that the service is no long available. I guess they went out of business. This is not confirm yet. Can someone who is going confirm it please?
i am ariving in shanghai on 5 nov 2011 at 8 pm. check out may take 2 hrs . is the hourly hotel available for me to spend 10 hrs as i have a flight to beijig earl next morning. how much will it cost and can i book it on line in case it goes full or is it ok to book on arrival.
