Qingdao (Tsingtao) Pictures

Want to take a look at what Qingdao looks like? Here are plenty of pictures.

I love Qingdao and have been there twice. I didn't really remember what we did in Qingdao for the first time, but Qingdao gave me very good first impression.

Qingtao is at the south tip of the Shandong Peninsula. It is a famous costal tourism city. It is near Shanghai - less than a hour's flight there (or 750 RMB's expense)

Qingdao is also spelled as Tsingtao (postal pinyin system), and is famous for Tsingtao Beer around the world

To PC: Tsingdao is cooler than Shaihai. In fact only these days around autumn are like summer in Tsingdao. It is alway cool in June and July.

Tsingdao Polar Sea World was open on August 11. It is a beautiful place with the polar animal like polar bear and penguin and so on. It cost 120rmb to get into the Sea world. I think it worth for that!

There is another Sea World in Tsingdao. Tsingdao is a famous costal tourism city, now it is the peak season of tourism. And it is the time for Beer Festival.

Tony, China has been exporting fine sand to Japan in the last ten years to furnish several sea bathing facilities there, not surprisingly China's fine sand is in hot demand.

I served in USN & was stationed in Tsingtao in 1946-47 & remember the beach & the Tsingtao Pier. I have, given to my daughter a photo album with the Peir embossed on the leather cover. Just wondering if the old pier is still there. I was on the USS YW105 & enjoyed many 'liberties" on the beach.

In 1946 I was a Sl/c office clerk(yeoman striker) in the Naval Port Facilities offices located in the former German Consulate bldg.We were among the very first members of NPF which was laying the groundwork for the arrival of the Headquarters of the 7th Fleet. I too remember the Tsingtao Beach and Pier. I saw two women with bound feet and one man with a pigtail while I was there. One visit to a series of temples and a pagoda was outstanding. Also a visit to a nearby village with walled main street so a vehicle had to not travel in a straight line into the village. The enlisted men's club downtown was great. We traveled by ricksha a lot. My superior, Chief Yeoman Bianchi was a very considerate person to work for. I met a few of the White Russians, saw a few of the Germans, and learned a few words of Chinese from the natives. The Japanese were being repatriated when I first arrived, both civilians and military. Ensign Emory and Lt.Com. Scribner were up the ladder of command from Ch. Bianchi. I returned to the states on the USS Warhawk which stopped at Weiheiwei, Taku, and Hong Kong with cruising by Formosa (Taiwan) and Guadalcanal.

Wang sian-shen ni hao?
I was born in Shanghai ina Russian family In 1943 we moved to Qingdao'.At first we lived oposite our uncle's home.He was a French consulate.(Fa guo lin shi guan) We lived in Chi Hsia lu 2/a opposite his house which is a hotel now.
Then we moved to Jou u guan lu which is near the small beach eastern than the Hui chuan peninsula.
I lived in that wonderful town 13 years and in 1956 we returned to Russia.
Now I am 70 years old and I often see that town in my dreams where I fall in my first and last love .....
