Such blue sky!
I can hardly remember when I saw the blue sky in Shanghai .
Maybe a few days during one year after a heavy rain or snow.

I was interested in your photos of the indoor skiing palce in Shanghai.
We will be there shortly. We have two teenage sons who are keen to ski.
Can you tell me how to get there from the Bund.
best regards
Elisabeth

Dear ELisabeth, easiest way is to jump on subway line no. 1 southbound to Xinzhuang Station (terminal station), then get a taxi from there.
If you can print this chinese text, it will be of big help for the driver !
上海七莘路1835号(近顾戴路口)

Otherwise, go to the english homepage (not very informative, but...) :
http://www.yinqixing.com/wgyy.htm

If you can, bring your own clothes, as the provided ones are not quite "delicate"...
Anyhow, the slopes is weak, but the skiing is fun, and watch lots of people trying to...!

Odysseus, this evening in Shanghai there are 1 moon and 2 planets, no stars.
I miss the blue skies too !

Posted by: carsten on December 9, 2005 8:45 PM

ELisabeth,
The skiing site you want to visit is Shanghai Yinqixing Indoor Skiing Site.It locates at 1835 Qixin Rd, Minhang District.
You can take the Metro from Mid Henan Rd Station(direction: Zhongshan Park Station), then change to Metro Line 1 at next station People Square Station(direction: Xinzhuang Station). Arrive at terminal station(Xinzhuang Station), you can find free regular bus at the North Square of Xinzhuang Station after you walk out of the station. Every half an hour, from 9:00 am to 21:00 pm. Or, you can take a taxi at the square,it will cost you 20 Yuan to get there.
Also, you can visit the website: http://www.skiing.com.cn/ to get more information. It has English Version.

odysseus, Your dream sky will re-appear if China runs out coal and oil.

It's not just the blue sky I miss. I yearn for the crispy, clean and cool air outdoors as well as the non-smoking environment as well. I read in an article not long ago. Percentage of smokers in the Bay area stands at around 12%. Only 7% of the Chinese American men smoke there vs 67% of the men smoke in China.

JS, check your work email.

Above blue sky and all others, what you really must be missing in China is decent people.

How many Chinese look straight at your eyes when they are talking to you?

Posted by: Bellevue on December 10, 2005 12:56 PM

LOL Bellevue, you sure got hate against chinese, well with minor modification, read how someone profiled you, imo, it is right on.

Name: Loser aka Bellevue
Race:Male
Age:30 to 40
Race:White
Education:Master Degree in something and minor in Chinese
Relationship Status: Single (Since I got "yellow fever", I used to date this chinese girl who dumped me coz of my "mental" problems. Thats why I hate all chinese, no exception!)
Hobbies:Surfing internet and checking out all of the Chinese blog to practice my Chinese and leave hate comments. I am always hoping someone can reply to me so I can fight back, since I don’t have any friends, this is the only “human contact” I can get. Sometimes, I am so tired and bored by constantly hitting refresh button, but heck thats the price I am willing to pay for some human contact.
Eating habits: Breakfast: 7 up with Bacon
Lunch: Burger with French fries
Dinner: French fries with burger
Principles: Do not buying anything made in China. The only exception is my computer, since I really don’t have time to check each of the parts.
Family: I grow up as a loveless child which might explain some my behavior, which is really not my fault.

Wishes: Please continue ignoring me, that is the only way I can die peacefully.

Happy holidays to everyone, since I really don’t have anyone to say this to.

My gosh, Bellevue sounds like he could star in the sequel to the movie 'The 40 Year Old Virgin.'
