Pictures of the Bund

Just be back from the birthday party of Jun.

I took some pictures of the Bund (both the Puxi side and Pudong side) with my new Nikon D50.

I don't have a tripod. I was on the boat, so the image is not as sharp as it should be.

The Bund is the must see in Shanghai. If you can take the boat for half an hour or two hours in summer, that will be the best experience in Shanghai. So try it. The best palce to see both side of the Huangpu river is, in the middle of the river.

Spectacular indeed! JS was very lucky that night. It was clear.
However, for most of the days/nights in Shanghai, you can’t see clearly anything twentieth floors above. Am I right JianShuo?

why the buildings don't look quite straight?

^ why the buildings don't look quite straight?

Nikon 18-70 (Jianshuo's camera lens) has significant barrel distortion at it's wide end. The problem can be easily fixed with some post processing.

All I see is a colossal of soulless Las Vegas whores afloat on heavily polluted water – a perfect metaphor for modern day China. The exception must be the former HSBC headquarters and the Customs house. Brits can spell e-l-e-g-a-n-c-e. But they didn't have luck. Both were looted by the commie bandits. Do not know what blothug wangjianshuo is proud of.

bellevue,

i guess you must have been travelling to your las vegas office quite often. what do you do at the World Journal? distribution or content? perhaps wang jianshou should pay a visit to your millbrae office next time he visits LA, hope you treat your "commie" buddy well.

BTW, thank you for not dumping sh*ts at my blog since i issued the warning of disclosing your IP, but if you really can not control the urge of dumping some sh*ts at my blog, please go directly to the stool i prepared for you, thank you in advance:

.... hmm, I've been a reader of Mr. Wang's blog for a long time. Thanks Mr. Wang for providing so much information about Shanghai.

Re:Bellevue, I think Bellevue is leading a very miserable life. I usually ignore his silly comments.

Loved the photos. I have one of the Bund taken 1927, my father was born in Shanghai at MacGregor Rd and often wonder if it still exists.

Incredible photos. I took a trip down from Rainbow Hotel
on 27-7-06 night.
It's extremely crowded that night and the lighting seem
very much colourful that night... enjoy very much by
walking around the the BUND.

Excellent Pictures.

My father and I were in SH early this year—such a cosmopolitan city. We took the night cruise too. The Bund and Pudong as your photos show are really spectacular at night. It was a mistake to have gone shopping at Nanjing Road on a stormy night though—cabs were elusive and we were freezing...

Hi I was in Shanghai in June 1-4 2006. Had a spectacular time met my boyfriend there.... and we would spend time on the Bund from 3 am until sunrise there.... a photographer took our picture while we were kissing. We eventually noticed him and he said he'd send us the picture. But we didn't exchange info..... as another photojournalist... what would you say the odds are of finding that picture?
thanks,
K
