Never try to open any file, EVEN IF IT IS SENT BY YOUR CLOSE FRIEND - they may get infected without being aware.

Aslo, hold not to accept invitation to add to your contact list for a while.

Why are people saying do not add this dar0nb0y??? What virus will they catch? Why only this address & not others? And why is there absolutely no info on this supposed virus on reputable antivirus websites???

Sounds like an attempt to scare people from adding others to their MSN contact list to me. Don't believe this. Has to be a hoax I think.

Follow the other advice in this message thread (do not open attachments sent from friends or family unless you are EXPECTING it or are 100% confident that it is not a file type that can carry a virus (such as .mp3 or .jpg))

through having msn 7 (BETA) i have a virus which has completly killed my computer, it is restarting my computer once reaching the startup page, even when trying to load in the last known configuration or in safe mode. How can i get rid of this, preferably without rebuilding and losing everything stored on my hard drive?

The reason your recieving that message is because you are either using MSN messenger 7 (Beta) or have a Messenger that isn't updated.

If you have MSN Messenger 7 (Beta) or a lower make, uninstall MSN Mesenger and then install MSN MEssenger 6.2

Once thats done, it will ask to be updated, say 'yes' and you won't have anymore connection problems.

i have had similar problems as the last person to post a problem (beth). but my internet has been affected and my computer will only open in safe mode. i have scanned my computer completely with kaspersky anti-virus personal (but its 204 days old because i cannot connect to the internt to update), also i have scanned with a malware scanner called a-squared. My computer still wont start nomally, my antivirus already found a worm with the name trimedia in it im wondering weither i could have moved to another part of my computer wile i was scanning. Mel, in most cases, viruses and worms come in multi-packs. You probably don't only have one worm or virus but severals.

1. Calm down and reboot your brain ;-) Fear and anger are bad advisors.

2. Unplug the modem of the infected PC. Shut down the PC.

3. Using another, not infected PC, download new anti-virus software including the *very latest* virus definition files. Burn it onto a CDROM.

4. Boot the infected PC in "safe mode", install the anti-virus software. Scan and clean your PC (make a backup of all data before doing this).

5. If this doesn't work, you usually need to reinstall all the software on your PC

6. Take care that this doesn't happen in the future anymore. Install a anti-virus scanner and guard (real-time monitoring). Update them every couple of days. And most importantly: Don't click on a thing just because it says "click me".

7. Use safer software. For example, don't use Microsoft software but Apple or Linux software.

hi there, ive recently got a virus on my msn account. It sends a link to every one in my contacts list saying 'LOSER' then it says, 'this is you in this cartoon' then it sends a link to the contact with their email address in it. it does this roughly every 7 or 8 minutes. Im really stuck on what to do as it is a family computer, please help as soon as possible!!!

I read your post about fixing viruses in safe mode by installing software. Pointless trying i tried to install somthing in safemode once.. in safemode the windows installer will not work belive me i tried (well in windows Xp Anyway)

But i have a problem... i got somthing on my HDD that disables my welcome screen. when i try to enable it, it just says uninstall clients for NetWare.. and i have searched and searched for files within this topic... and nothing, i would reformat my drive (mainly coz i dont like the sound of "NetWare") but there are too many files i need to keep and am currnetly unable to back up.

Please help me get rid of this so i can get my welcome screen back

oh and By the way "virusinfected" your pc keeps reseting because u got somthing just like "MS BLAST" MS blast resets your pc after 30 seconds of turning it on and entering a browser... in your case u got the same only, it is dosent need you to open the browser.. may i suggest reformating your Hard Disk and keep protected

i have a virus that shuts down my task manager and msn messenger windows. i cant even keep norton anit-virus up for long enuf to delite it. its fucking anoying.when the chat windows dissapear i close down msn messenger 7.5 and it asks me if i want to close down all of my chat windows. they must be open but not on my task bar. i need help. any 1 got ideas?

up all the files in c:\WINDOWS and programs

such as Internet Explorer, Acrobat Reader, MS Office,

Plus my pc has the habit to shut down completely

without warning (one second it works, the other not

even a little light burns anymore) and although this

doesn't happen too often, it's very unpredictable when

I'm able to stop most virsuses' execution using

the task manager (ctrl + alt + del), but some are

IN the system files, which means I can't shut

them down like that. Corrupted source files...

If you want cleaning tis virus you must folow this steps!

Step 1:Restart computer

Step 2:when computer go up to boot push F8 in your keyboard and chooose opcion start windows in Safe mode With Networking

Step 3:When windows starting chose opcion NO

Step 4: run sistem recovery before install MSN Messenger and when finish restart computer

QH, You're wrong!, I'm running vista right now!

Vista RC1 (Release Candidate 1) that is, It works perfectly, I have not had any problems with viruses, the new windows firewall works a charm. You can only download Vista RC1 If you participated in Microsoft's Vista Beta program. Lol also qh macs do have viruses, the computers at school are so f*cked up that you can't even open firefox on half of them. Anyway, anyone need any help with viruses or stuff just eMail me at sycrat@bigpond.net.au. Most of the stuff you guys are talkin about isn't so hard to get rid of, you just need to not give up, its always possible, you don't even need antivirus software if you know what you are doing (although I do recommend a good firewall and virus/spyware protector. I'm really bored so I should be able to help you as soon as possible. By the way, I will not give any of you permission to add me on msn because you all seem to have Viruses and crap, as easy as it is to get rid of, it's not fun and it's a waste of time.

I also had this virus. I got it from a friend who Said "Omg is this you (link to virus)" (which the virus made him say) I cleaned my computer as well as two other people who had it. These are a list of things the virus did:

Sent the same message ("omg is this you (link to virus)") to all of my contacts.

Shut down the task manager as well as the msconfig menu.

Slowed down my computer.

Slowed down my virus utitlitys by making them randomly unresponsive.

Hi, I am using Yahoo Messenger, and my Yahoo messenger ID affected by some virus.Whenever I logged in , an automated message is popping up to all the people in my messenger list, also, by default ststus is stting in the MyStatus option when the same link which is going to the people in the messenger list, how to aviod this, also let me know the Virus name.Waiting for ur Reply.

Jack, I guess it is some kind of spamware, instead of virus. Recently, there are a lot of such software. Be sure never give your username and password to a third party website.

since i acdently clicked on this file sent to me on msn, my sound has not worked it says there is no driver installed, i have tryed everything in safe mode, i have uninstalled and reinstalled everything to do with my soundcard and msn last time this happend i got lucky and found a website which let me download a fix i think the virus changed something or disabled something to do with my soundcard but i havent been able to find the website agen. if anyone has any info on how to sort this could you please email me as-we-take-it-down@hotmail.co.uk or leave a comment on this site ill check later on tonite thanks :D
