Blogcn & BlogDriver Shut Down

by Jian Shuo Wang (@jianshuo) on March 13, 2004 under Government

Two more blog service provider were shut down after blogbus.com. Now, all of the top three blogs stoped their services now. This is not astonishing at all. To be safe, I don't want to make any comment on this. It is the hard time for everyone involved in the China blogging world.

Do any news media in China report the shut down and explain or speculate why?

There is some speculation:

This is sensitive stuff... well, it is not about SARS, so the outcome this time may be different? In any case the last thing we want to see is this site is shut down.... Let's pray.

Maybe it's due to the national people's congress these days. I recalled the press conference held by Premier Weng yesterday, especially the last question on the political event happened 15 years ago. The answer delivered the information that the government will treat stability as the first priority no matter what it costs. They are just afraid to open the gate. But I don't think blog is harmful, by contraries, it is a window, opened to release the high pressure, to breathe the fresh air, and to see the colorful world, from a grey or black box. Bless.

Blog server providers were shut down? It sounds like political reasons. I know that China has a different rule or regulation, but I wonder how long it's possible to keep it. I'm sure that the government will cost a lot! My goodness.
