My New Toys - Clock, Radio and TV

:)I like this clock!
I am dreaming of a radio as well. But I prefer a(nearly) full-band one which can receive short band frequences.
All I want to say is that these toys are very atractive.;)

Hehe. Brian, we share the same dreams. :-) After trying a lot of things, I found simple and realiable things are most attractive to me - just like the clock, the TV set and the Radio Set - those without many cool features, but are so simple to operate and work.

The two procelan figures around the TV are for decoration propurse. Acutally, they are the typical Chinese cloths for wedding. The left one is the groom and the right one is the bridge. It is very intersting and lovely. I bougth them at the market in Zhujiajiao, before our wedding.

I think that the old fashion coming back because they can remind us of much of unforgettable memory, rather than their real usablity today. So, these toys should come by the name of Reminiscence Commemoration. In front of them, we are able to keep ourselves knowing where we came from, and to spare the real by far better off lives we have in arms now with so many fantastic materials, don't need to worry over stopping while in trip clock; don't need to tune in and out digital radio; and even showing the figures clearer and bigger than real things high fidelity TV.

How can we reject the advanced things that give us comfort and convenience to return to the old lives with undeveloped things ? Is it practical and lasting ? what do you think ?

It reminded me about the recent widely distributed pictures about the poor people in China - it reminds people that China is still a very poor picture. Along the hot debate of whether we should worry about the pictures, there is a comment that "if we see the pictures 20 years ago, no one will be shocked because it is our lives everywhere. Now the fact that we are shocked has already proven the country has became richer and stronger."

It is the case for these advanced technology. It is the evidence that the technology has advanced so much that simple, old things like the toys I gathered only exists in our memories.

Nowadays, there are so many stuff being "electionized", just like the clock. Life becomes much easier and more comfortable. It might be interesting and fresh to go back to the old-style clock, but I may be bored of twisting the springs at night someday if I had such a clock.
