When I look into my wallet, I found many cards. It is a world of cards, isn’t it? I found I have to invent a good classification system to manage my cards. So here is how I classify my cards. I have several most important cards, some important cards, and some “garbage cards”. Garbage cards are all kind of membership cards given by the companies for free… Important cards are those door cards (for company and for home security system), and some membership cards will money deposit. I have four most important cards.

The Most Important Cards

I have four:

National ID - the most important card for any citizen in this country. I have upgraded to the new version - the RFID version. You know, if you loose your National ID, it can be very troublesome. You can refer to my prior experience of losing a passport - it took about one year to get a new one.

Three Credit Card - one debit card from China Merchant Bank (CMB Platinum card), a credit card from CMB, and a credit card from Bank of Shanghai.

The two cards from China Merchant Bank are my favorite cards, and the Bank of Shanghai card is just for backup - it has really bad and bureaucratic process and service. I am thinking of get rid of the Bank of Shanghai credit card, but at second thought, I found it is a good financing source if I am lack of money one day - anyway, it is 50,000 RMB of credit.

A tip for my readers: did you know that many cards, like my Bank of Shanghai card waives its annual fee? My Bank of Shanghai card claimed to waive annual fee for my whole life. Hmm… it seems I can still keep it for 50 years. Will Bank of Shanghai still exists then? I highly doubt it.

What are other very important cards you hold?
