VPN in China
By Jian Shuo Wang on 2007-07-20 20:02 · Internet AccessHi Jian Shuo,
I’ve enjoyed keeping up with your blog lately and congrats on the new addition to your family.
I had a question I thought I might ask you, as I have been looking all over and can’t seem to find a definitive answer.
Thought maybe you may know as you have worked in the field in China and with many US companies.
I am trying to find out what sorts of speeds are typical for a VPN connection between China (most likely Nanjing, but if other areas provide significantly faster infrastructure those are possible too) and a high speed datacenter in the US.
The network I am wanting the China user to connect to in this US datacenter has combined 100Mb internet connection (three ISPs providing load balenced ~33Mb each).
I have read anywhere from 2Mb to dial up like speeds.
Any insight you have you be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Joel
