My Connection to the City

To live in a city does not always mean you have a lot of connections with the city. Let me pause, look back and create a repository of the connections I have to this city.

Connection - by my definition, is the time/moment that I feel that I am in this city, not that city…

• Weather.

• Radio. I listen to radio on my way home in the car. Recently, I pay more attention to two programs, one is Liveitupshanghai from 10:15 to 11:00 PM at 93.4 FM, and Pian Pian Qing, from 9:00 to 10:00 PM at 89.9 FM. At home, when I cannot find out my radio set, I logon to web listen online.

• Taxi. Taxi drivers seem to be among the very few people I meet in the city.

• Metro and sometimes bus.

• Trees on the street. Trees have lives. It is different than the cold buildings. I love to watch trees (as stated in the art of travel,
