Muzimei’s Sex Blog Brought Trouble

Hehe. After the DOS (Deny of Service) attack of U.S. network, a girl caused the same kind of attack to blogchina.com. Moreover, the magic is, the girl really caused people to click on the links to BlogChina using their own mouse, instead of the DOS previously caused by virus program. The girl is a journalist called Muzimei.

The girl shared all her sex experience with the public. This is extremely astonishing in the current China society. Also, she became the most famous blogger in China. After her blog was exposed by Sina, Sohu , ycwb and hundreds of blog sites, people got aware of the blog and rushed to her blog:

遗情书 木子美

However, the blog has already be closed due to (maybe) media/ISP and/or government pressure Update: No pressure except huge volume of hit is involved so far. Disappointed people turn to Google or Baidu for help. Our victim BlogChina, as listed in the third of the result page, got 5 times more than normal hit rate.

Blogcn.com Shutdown

The Blog Service Provider (BSP) of Muzimei’s blog (blogcn.com) has already been shutdown. Along with Muzimei’s, many more people are affected. I don’t know the exact number of user for this server. It should be huge since blogcn.com is one of the largest BSP with the longest history. How painful others blog owners feel to be shutdown with this star blog.

I Support Muzimei

Clearly, I am on the side to support her. Sharing is good. Why people have to judge others behavior if it does not hurt anyone?

Wait a minute. Muzimei has released the name of the men who has ever slept with. This is bad. I believe a blog can reveal whatever you want to show about yourself, but not others.

This is my definition of privacy: Privacy is the right not being known. Everyone can judge about what is private and what is not. Of cause people has the right to expose everything about him/herself. It is granted right. But people cannot hurt other’s privacy by exposing other’s personal information without other’s agreement. I see the problem of Muzimei’s blog as privacy probelm only.

Update November 30, 2003

Muzimei’s book of Yiqinshu was ready to be published these days. The Twenty-First Centuary Publishing House has made 120,000 copies of the book already. However, the National News and Publishing Administration banned just issued the order to stop the publishing of this book. Why?

  1. totally agree! Actually some days ago I blogged something about muzimei in my Chinese blog and thousands of visitors found my blog when they were searching for the name “muzimei” or “yiqingshu”. That’s pretty scary as the site counter soared up from 200 all so to more than 4000, and it keeps going on…

As muzimei, I read her blog every day and I did found blogcn couldn’t be opened. Are you sure there is something to do with muzimei? :)

And, I support her too. Clearly!!

  2. hahaha.. that’s hilarious.. she’s merely talking about it.. not even showing pictures or anything.. i don’t understand why it is so big? does the chinese government control the internet so much that there’s no other pornography on the internet? or is it famous just because of the debate on whether to shut down her blog. FYI, i can access http://www.blogcn.com/blog/?u=muzimei fine as well here from Iowa, USA.

  3. i’ve seen her blog long long ago, frankly, i don’t like her life style, but i more dislike the government behavior. This is a just a personal affair, like or dislike, you don’t have any rights to interfere it.

Last time I heard some women who’s husbands has been in affair with Miss Mu attacked her. It’s more ridiculouse.

  4. Yes. Really negative reports.

Majority of the readers think Muzimei is, in their world, is the bad woman. They critized 1) She should not have sex with so many men (60-70 according to the blog). 2) But more importantly, she should not publish the experience pubicly, so to “harm” the younger generation.

The Muzimei shock wave did the job for public education of “what blog is”. Many people know the word of blog from Muzimei’s blog. So people will say: “Blog is the act of publishing personal daily life to the web so public can see the privite life of normal people”. “Most of the blogs are bad.” So it caused negative image of Blogs in China.

Anyway, I do support free public expression. Nothing wrong with Muzimei except that she should not publish real name of them man slept with her – it has violated the pivacy of them.

  5. I am a gweilo living in Shenzhen and only wish her blog was translated into English. She sounds like a brave, liberated woman who also is seeking publicity. This has been done before by women in the U.S., France and Great Britain, by the way. And it’s only caused a minor stir in those countries. It seems to be a much bigger deal here. I wish her well.

  6. It reflects the course when people in China becoming tolerant to different voices. 20 years ago, I am sure Muzimei will be sentenced to dead for what she did. Now people only post millions of negative comments on her. This is a great step already. However, people are not that tolerate for her yet.

  7. it’s seems like chinese society don’t want their women to go loosey-goosey like our women in the west. perhaps a few more beers and years the fears will disappear. now what ever happened to that gal i met last week…too drunk to remember….

  10. Facts about STDs

STDs affect men and women of all backgrounds and economic levels. However, nearly two-thirds of all STDs occur in people younger than age 25.

STDs are on the rise, possibly due to more sexually active people who have multiple sex partners during their lives.

Many STDs initially cause no symptoms. In addition, many STD symptoms may be confused with those of other diseases not transmitted through sexual contact – especially in women. Even symptom-less STDs can be contagious.

Women suffer more frequent and severe symptoms from STDs:

Some STDs can spread into the uterus (womb) and fallopian tubes and cause pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), which, can lead to both infertility and ectopic (tubal) pregnancy.

STDs in women also may be associated with cervical cancer.

  12. A compilation of her writings and diaries is to be released in Shanghai tomorrow, but last week the publisher refused to give any further details, strengthening the belief in media circles that the Chinese government has intervened in an effort to quell the controversy. The “blog” entries have earned comparisons with Candace Bushnell, the New York author of Sex and the City, which began life as a newspaper column before being turned into the hit television show.

  14. Here I wanna some information about a Medical term that is called Tubal Ligation reversal …

For many women, having a tubal ligation (also known as female sterilization or getting your “tubes tied”) is a permanent way to manage your family size. Usually done once a woman feels that her family is complete, as much as 25% of women who have had the procedure end up changing their minds. If you have had your tubes tied but now regret your decision, you may want to consider having a tubal ligation reversal.
